Richard Pierce, 95, beloved husband and best friend of the late Pearl K. Pierce, nee Kagan; loving father of David Pierce (Judy Kohn), Debi Pierce (Joe Amarilio) and Sharon Pierce (Jeffrey Perelman); cherished Papa of Alana Pierce (Jonathan Stansel), Ethan Pierce (Ashley Powell), Margeaux Pierce (Glen Watson), Jonathan Amarilio (Bridget Eastman), Katharine (Jeffrey) Schultz, Michael Amarilio (Monika Bobo), Casey Tarnas (Max Strand) and Ian Tarnas; adored great-grandfather of Atlas, Sofia, Olivia and Sloane; devoted son of the late William and Dorothy; dear brother of the late Bob (the late Betty); treasured uncle and friend of many. Graveside service 11 AM Friday at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org ). I’ve Dick for more that 30 years. We met when I was the Building Administrator for a Service Master account. He provided my account with many goods and services. Throughout those years we became close friends and played many rounds of golf together. Dick had a wonderful sense of humor and one of the most compassionate people that I ever knew…always kind and thoughtful.

Dicks golf game was great and usually won by a few strokes. We were playing at Midlane Country Club and on the 9th hole there was a young lady mowing her yard in a lime green bikini. Of course we noticed. As Dick was getting ready to tee off I said , Don’t think about that lime green bikini. He laughed so hard that it took him several minutes to compose himself. I beat him by 2 strokes because I would say to him,” Don’t think green” for the rest of the game. we laughed all the way to end of the game.
